REVISITING THE SCUM MANIFESTO
WITH EDA ASLAN AND
VEDDEL NEIGHBORHOOD ACTIVISTS
For Hamburg Art Week, HyCP Veddel Space presents Grieshaber Prize winner Cornelia Sollfrank. In a new reenactment, the cyberfeminist will address gender hierarchies in the capitalist-patriarchal art world. As a continuation of the “Revisiting Feminist Art” series, she will reinterpret the SCUM Manifesto by New York author Valerie Solanas in Veddel. Together with Eda Aslan and neighborhood activists, the manifesto, originally published in 1968, will be read, discussed, and further developed.

Cornelia Sollfrank (PhD) is an artist, researcher and writer, living in Berlin. She studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts, Munich, and Fine Arts at the University of Fine Arts, Hamburg (1987–1994). She holds a PhD from the University of Dundee (United Kingdom), where she investigated the conflict between copyright and art. Her artistic practice often intertwines tightly with her academic research. In order to make the resources of one field useful for the other, Sollfrank works both independently and in collaboration with various institutions. Recurring subjects in her artistic and academic work in and about digital cultures are artistic infrastructures, new forms of (political) self-organization, digital authorship, aesthetics of the commons, critical data practice, and techno-feminist practice and theory. Her projects net.art generator – a web-based art-producing machine, and Female Extension have earned her a reputation as a pioneer of net art. In 1997, she initiated the Old Boys Network, the first cyberfeminist alliance, which was active for five years. OBN held three international conferences, published the documenting readers, and participated in numerous public events. In 2020-2021, she worked with the documenta archiv in Kassel to realize the obn_archive.
Since 2000, Cornelia Sollfrank has been invited to give more than 100 lectures all over the world at conferences, festivals and expert panels, most recently at Aarhus Institute for Advanced Studies, Photography Museum Tokyo, Digital Arts Festival Taipei, Berlin Open Lab, Bauhaus Uni Weimar, M+ Hong Kong, Concordia University Montréal.
In 2025, she received the prestigious HAP Grieshaber Prize from the Kunstfonds Bonn, which comes with a cash award of € 25,000.
