Zusammen mit Schüler*innen der Schule auf der Veddel und mit interessierten Nachbarn thematisiert Amitabh Kumar “Kulturelle-Identität” als eine Spielart von sprachlichen Übersetzungen
.
Hierzu bringt er das Gedicht “Sheeshon Ka Maseeha / The Messiah of Glass” des indischen Dichters Faiz Ahmed Faiz ins Gespräch und als als Grundlage seiner Auseinandersetzung mit dem Ort und den Menschen der Elbinsel Veddel.

In everyday understanding “culture” as a term is often equated with identity.One’s own familiar identity, that which is not foreign, is being understood as a fixed canon representing universal values. If other cultures are being viewed from this fixed perspective, as a consequence they are being isolated as something alien.

Using the big windows of ZOU-NO-HANA TERRACE as screens, Rahel Bruns transforms the surface of the building to a medium which turns it inside out and vice versa as well as the private to the public and individual to the political recognition of our faces as a statement. This resumes us to intensive actions of social, cultural and psychological negotiations. At the same time Rahel Bruns brings up various questions, such as of the history of the portrait itself and also of contemporary issues like digitalization, social media and the phenomenon of the individual.

ANISH AHLUWALIA is an artist, writer and filmmaker. He lives and works in New Delhi, India. He has exhibited his works in solo and group exhibitions in New Delhi, Mumbai, London and Budapest. He has participated in various international artist’s residencies in India and abroad producing site specific installations and performance based photographic works.

This is where it begins. Drawn to the center between the peripheries of land and water, we enter into a strange ceremony of fearful fascination, automatic administration of clearcut chaos, a deep void of wild autonomous capitalism. Aborted commitment of open doors to the world, we turn around, turn again and again, finding no entrance, no exit, we adhere to the front.
UNFAMILIAR TIES // HYPERCULTURAL CONVERSATIONS:
Re-examining a heritage of disaster sensed in the the smooth Elbe river bricks of Hamburg back in 2014, Rebecca returns to FRISE with a project that begins to stitch together pieces of a personal history—beginning with hand-processed leather from two American deer hides and a pattern traced out of her grandfather’s personal monument, his WW2 bomber jacket.
