HOW/To Think an other cultural concept/NOW

What’s the meaning of art and culture in a world of simultaneity, a world in which European tourists take a swim in the same waters of the Mediterranean Sea in which refugees, deprived of their existence, drown by the hundreds? In everyday understanding “culture” as a term is often equated with identity. One’s own familiar identity, that which is not foreign, is being understood as a fixed canon representing universal values. If other cultures are being viewed from this fixed perspective, as a consequence they are being isolated as something alien.
